Chances are you already have been or will be a member of a NIMBY group. NIMBY is a pejorative term that stands for Not In My Backyard. When a bike trail, Wal-Mart, or rock quarry is proposed to the local zoning commission, people with nearby property who cry “not in my backyard” are NIMBYs.
