Front Shovel Caterpillar's 5090B front shovel replaces the 5080 hydraulic excavator. The design is compatible with 40- to 70-ton excavators. The 5090B is powered by a Cat 3456 — a 964-cu-in. air-to-air aftercooled diesel engine. The engine produces 513 hp, a 20% increase over the 5080. The engine features an electronic unit injection and 133,030-lb maximum drawbar pull. The swing torque is 191,770 lb ft, bucket breakout force (SAE) is 105,210 lb, and stick breakout force (SAE) is 99,590 lb.
