EPA may Focus on Mineral Processing

The Environmental Protection Agency has proposed targeting the mineral processing industry as one of its top enforcement and compliance priorities for the next three fiscal years (2005-2007). In announcing “suggested new areas” for enforcement priorities, EPA says, “Evidence gathered in recent inspections indicates that mineral processing facilities are failing to obtain the necessary permits and adequately manage their wastes” under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act.
