Census: Nevada Fastest Growing State

The U.S. Census Bureau reports that the nation's population grew by 1% (2.9 million people) between July 1, 2003 and July 1, 2004, to 293.7 million. With a growth rate of 4.1%, Nevada ranked first among states for the 18th consecutive year. Four nearby states joined Nevada on the list of the nation's 10 fastest-growing: Arizona (second), Idaho (fourth), Utah (seventh) and New Mexico (10th). The remaining top 10 fastest-growing states all are coastal: Florida (third), Georgia (fifth), Texas (sixth), Delaware (eighth) and North Carolina (ninth).
