There is an old expression that says, “If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.” But when it comes to the communities in which we do business, you can throw away the “if.” Too often businesses alienate themselves from their communities. Then when they need something from the community, they get turned away. You can't beat them. You have to join them. The community can't be an opponent because the community is the judge and the jury.
